Purple Coneflower Stencil
(Echinacea purpurea)
A geometric floral stencil in the craftsman/bungalow style of the 1900s-1920s is based on the native prairie plant “Purple Coneflower.” Coneflower is another of my favorites (I love all things purple). It’s so easy to grow and seeds itself prolifically. I have purple coneflowers all over my garden that have planted themselves. It makes a great winter interest plant with the seed-heads standing all winter, and the birds love the seeds.

Stencil Details
The large Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is designed to be a part of a frieze with the other flowers in this series and has two extra diamonds on either side to help you align it with the next flower in the pattern (trace them in pencil and then use that to line up the next stencil). It also makes a great standalone design on an accent pillow, a table runner, or roller shades. Use your imagination and creativity!
This stencil is cut from 7.5 mil (small) or 10 mil (large) Mylar which is thick enough for many many re-uses, but not so thick that the design is difficult to stencil. Because it is a larger design, a foam roller might work for part of the design, but I recommend using a stenciling brush to get into all the fine details. Stencil with acrylic paint, latex paint, stencil creams, fabric paint, or glaze. You can use spray adhesive, but I recommend just using blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dry brush or roller to keep paint from bleeding.
