Katelyn Parker
Residential Architect, Tulsa, Oklahoma
I understand the commitment and time owning an old house takes because I’ve spent 10+ years loving and restoring my own 1911 bungalow. In 2012, I moved to Tulsa to work for a high-end residential architecture firm and owning an old house wasn’t in the plan, but when I saw my house it was love at first sight. At the time I didn’t know much about historic homes, or preservation, or even regular home maintenance, but I knew I could learn. I’ve spent the last 10+ years doing just that through my work in residential architecture, through serving as a commissioner on the Tulsa Preservation Commission, and through numerous DIY projects, preservation workshops, and renovations of my own.
My own old house helped me to “set down roots” and I knew I wanted to help other old house lovers feel rooted and settled in their homes. I started Bungalow Roots Architecture to guide people through the challenges of preserving and renovating old houses, and to help them build new houses that live like old homes with the quality and durability to one day become an old house.
I’m here to help you plan for your wants and needs so you that you can feel confident, calm, and settled living in your home now and in the future. Renovating an old house or building a new house is a difficult process. Often, you don’t know what you don’t know, and regrets and missed opportunities are a real danger. I’ve refined my process through my own experiences to guide you smoothly through the struggle to come out the other side with a home you love.
